Suicide Guy VR is another episode of Chubby Pixel's absurdist suicide simulator, released specifically for virtual reality devices. We tell you about the pros and cons of the game from the developer site Friv2Online in a brief review.
Suicide Guy is hard to take seriously even in the context of an amateur indie game, which can be said about all of the studio's projects. Almost every of their works is a psychedelic trip with an unpretentious story and simple visuals. From time to time Chubby Pixel's experiments lead to quite entertaining results. For example, they succeeded with the Woodle Tree movie, and some fans of thrash video games liked the ordinary, not virtual Suicide Guy.
The protagonist, the same nameless loser who is referred to in the friv game as a guy, is dozing off in front of the TV again. In one hand is the remote control, in the other (oh horror!) an open bottle of beer. The container has already slipped out of his greasy fingers, and the drink is about to spill all over the carpet. The guy, who has already been sneaking off to an imaginary diner, sees this on TV and realizes that he needs to wake up immediately.
All the tables in the diner are numbered, and on each table there is some object symbolizing a puzzle room. When interacting with them, the guy is transported to an abstract location with uncomplicated, often physical tasks. The ultimate goal in each is to find a way to kill himself to finally wake up.
Suicide Guy is a very specific friv game, of which there are quite a lot for virtual reality devices. Someone who is not demanding or, on the contrary, is saturated with serious projects by Valve, Respawn or Skydance, will surely find an outlet in it and will be happy to spend a few hours trying to kill a virtual self.
The Suicide Guy franchise has been blocked on the Steam Store for breaking the rules, but I wouldn't say that the friv game promotes suicide. That is, of course, it is the main motive, but the world inside this particular project is so unrealistic and comical that the situation is in no way compatible with our reality.
